Team LNT announces all British driver line up.

3rd March 2009

Robbie Kerr and Guy Smith join Lawrence Tomlinson in GZ09S for Spa. Le Mans 24 Hours GT2 winners Team LNT will return to the Le Mans Series at Spa-Francorchamps with a brand new Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S. 2007 LMP2 runner-up Robbie Kerr and 2003 Le Mans winner Guy Smith will complete the driver line-up headed by team owner Lawrence Tomlinson. Both Tomlinson and Smith showed good pace at the pre-race test last week..

Although Kerr wasn't present at the test, the young Englishman has a succesful history with Zytek machinery, taking an overall pole at the 2004 Silverstone LMS round and piloting an LMP2 Zytek 07S to second place at the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours. Guy Smith has experience of the Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S in both LMP1 and LMP2 guise, having tested for Quifel-ASM at Paul Ricard and Team LNT at Snetterton. The GZ09S will run on Michelin tyres and will be fitted with Zytek’s new 4.5-litre engine.

Team LNT will join Strakka Racing, pole sitters at the first LMS round in Barcelona, in fielding an all British driver line up.

Robbie Kerr: “It was great to get the call from Lawrence and fantastic to be back in a Zytek at a top track like Spa, so I have to thank Lawrence for this opportunity. I've got two strong team mates and obviously a fantastic proven package so although our build-up has been limited I'm confident that we can go to Spa and get a result

Guy Smith: “I’m really looking forward to driving LNT’s brand new Ginetta-Zytek at Spa, I’ve been in conversation with fellow Yorkshireman Lawrence Tomlinson for the past couple of months and it’s a perfect fit for both LNT and me to race at Spa”

The combination of the Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S and Michelin tires has proven to be a competitive package so far this season, and Team LNT’s driver line-up of two previous Le Mans winners and a British Formula 3 champion justifies the high expectations of this Yorkshire based team.
